Walk of Space
Since 2013, Noordwijk has had a Walk of Space, with hand and footprints of famous astronauts in the tiles of the Koningin Wilhelmina Boulevard.
On October 2, 2024, the tiles of astronauts Rick Hieb from America, Reinhold Ewald from Germany and Julie Payette from Canada were unveiled on Koningin Wilhelmina Boulevard in Noordwijk. A special revelation attended by many astronauts from all over the world.
Walk of Space The 'Walk of Space' is a collaboration between Space Expo, ESA ESTEC and the municipality of Noordwijk. It symbolizes the strong bond between the municipality of Noordwijk and space travel.
The first tile was the one with the print of Wubbo Ockels' astronaut boot. There are now 18 tiles with hand and footprints of famous astronauts. And new astronauts will follow this year and in the coming years. In Noordwijk you can literally follow in the footsteps of your favorite astronaut.
